Does age effect ENGAGEMENT

I was researching Engagement on youtube and found this video about the Generation gap

Watching this I became curious?

If we are engaged with things that we find valuable then could age effect engagement on a level beyond what we can overcome?
I  looked further to understand
 But should I trust random people on You tube?
I asked a small group of  people to watch three videos (one to represent the values of each generation) and offer their 1st impressions:

Baby Boomers “Free love and civil rights”

What defines a Baby Boomer

WORK/LIFE VALUE
got into the work force and it was their life
rather work then play
love teamwork
wants respect for their contribution/ success
likes holding meeting
will call you 1st
motivated by money
GROWING UP
growing up saw great change and
Did what they felt needed to be done, and got results
felt entitled
many ideals
KEY MOTIVATORS
involvement
workaholic
Respect rules, unless they are against their ideals
optimistic
make the world you want- take action

What defined a Generation Xer

WORK/LIFE VALUE
Cautious with money
work/ balance is important
few instructions required or wanted
there is nothing here for us, better figure out how to survive
cynical
disloyal to companies
GROWING UP
grew up in I can’t and scared world
education was suppose to be our future but it wasn’t
called slackers but disillusioned  may be more accurite
sandwiched between two self-centered generations and bridging the gap
little parental involvement- mom and dad were busy
trusted friends
latch key kids
gave up on being supported by anyone
KEY MOTIVATORS
entrapreneurial / inventive
let me do it my way
looking for connections
self reliant
Tech savvy
lifelong learners
.

Gen Y “not lazy but sure seems demanding”

What defines a Millennial

WORK/LIFE VALUES
Cooperate
grew up in the all winners
work provides $ for play
need constant feedback
short and often text communication is favored
must feel valued, recognized and engaged
GROWING UP
everyone is a winner
mom and dad were always there
technology relient  as a culture
never learned to write cursively or long division
very creative
helicopter parents
hopeful
diversity if familier
KEY MOTIVATORS
want to make a difference in the world
respect the one that can do the job
collaborative
close to family
now is the time
personal fulfilment needed
short attention span
volunteerism appreciated
